One thing about going to Utah's Kodachrome Basin State Park in the winter - you'll be pretty much all alone! I had my choice of camp site, parking space, and lunch spot along the trail.

Kodachrome Basin State Park
This off-the-beaten trail park is located in Cannonville, near Bryce Canyon National Park. It is open year round, has several short to medium length trails, and a campground with showers. An entry fee is charged (as of May 2002 the fee is $5.00).

I hiked several of the trails, including one called "Eagle's Rest". It is very steep and climbs to a height for a wonderful view of the area.

The Panorama Trail is the only one that allows mountain biking. Several loops, ranging from three to six miles total distance are available.
Horseback riding also is allowed on the Panorama Trail and on the one-mile Grand Parade Trail. There is a facility for horse rental which also gives stagecoach rides in the warmer months.

Nearby sightseeing includes Bryce Canyon National Park, Paria Canyon Wilderness, the Cockscomb, Grosvenor Arch, and miles and miles of BLM land with ghost towns and old movie sets.
