New Year's Resolutions

It's that time of year again. Time for making resolutions to become a better person in a variety of ways. The best advice is to make New Year's Resolutions that are acheivable and not unreachable. Here are some ideas to help you get healthier and happier in the coming year.

Get Outside More
Since Utah is a big playground, why not get out and play in it more this year? There are tons of outdoor activities to be found among the mountains, lakes, and redrock.

Learn a New Sport
The Utah Winter Games sponsors a number of free clinics where one can learn things from downhill skiing to skating to curling.

Practice Random Acts of Kindness
All it takes is a little extra smile or compliment to brighten up someone's day. And it spreads. The person who you cheer will pass it along and it could become an epidemic!

Find a New Friend
See if there are any people out there with similar ideals and interests. You just might find a soul-mate.

Choose from a myriad of ways to spend some free time helping others.

Conservation/Clean Up the Planet
If we all do our part, we can make a difference. We can save the natural resources that are left for future generations to enjoy. Several organizations in Utah are doing wonderful things.

Get a Better Job
Maybe now is the time to leave that dead-end job and find something really exciting!

Hug a Kid/Pet Every Day
It does wonders for both the hugged and the hugg-ee!

Appreciate Art
Salt Lake has a variety of venues for viewing, and learning about the arts, from dance to film, to museums and art galleries.

Get in Shape
Need to lose a few pounds? Too much holiday indulging? Well, you're not alone. The first step is the hardest. Take advantage of the first-of-the-year specials some of the local businesses are offering gift certificates to help you get started!

Get a New Hobby
How about trying that new craft you've always been interested in? Or maybe pick up that old camera that is gathering dust and take some fun shots of your family.

Take Time For Your Loved Ones
Don't forget the ones who are there for you when you need them. Try not to get too caught up in the business of life and remember to let them know they are appreciated. Set aside time each day, even if it is only 5 minutes.

Have a safe, prosperous and Happy New Year!
